{"id":323,"date":"2020-03-29T22:29:10","date_gmt":"2020-03-29T22:29:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bxta-staging.website\/?page_id=323"},"modified":"2026-01-05T13:08:19","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T13:08:19","slug":"precisionpoint","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/bxta.com\/uk\/healthcare-professionals\/precisionpoint\/","title":{"rendered":"PrecisionPoint&#x2122;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div id=\"\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-ll-content-block ll-row ll-row--med\"><div class=\"ll-content\"><div class=\"ll-content__inner\">\n<style>\n.breakword-mb {\n display:block;\n}\n@media only screen and (min-width: 690px){\n.breakword-mb {\n display:none;\n}\n}\n<\/style>\n\n<div style=\"height:30px;\"><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-ll-innerblock-heading\"><div class=\"ll-headings  \"><h3 class=\"ll-heading ll-heading--lrg\" style=\"color:#03843e\">Precision<span class=\"breakword-mb\"><\/span>Point&#x2122;<\/h3><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-ll-innerblock-heading\"><div class=\"ll-headings  \"><h3 class=\"ll-heading ll-heading--med\" style=\"color:#03843e\">Transperineal Access System &#8211; revolutionising the methodology for obtaining prostate biopsies<\/h3><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>BXTA is on a mission to educate the world on the benefits of LATP prostate biopsy: transperineal biopsies carried out under local anaesthetic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">As the sole distributor, outside North America, for the PrecisionPoint\u2122 single use device, that enables LATP, and alongside international partners that including organisations such as the British Association of Urological Surgeons, The Royal Society of Medicine, Prostate Cancer UK, The British Association of Urological Nurses and <a href=\"\/open-letter-to-the-rt-hon-matt-hancock-mp-re-time-for-trexit\/\">many others<\/a>, we are committed to eradicating the current \u2018de facto\u2019 standard method for prostate cancer diagnosis: the transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) guided or transrectal biopsy.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"750\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/PPDevice-movement.gif\" alt=\"PP Device gif\" class=\"wp-image-2035\" style=\"width:446px;height:440px\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"background-color:#03843e\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-ll-innerblock-text-padded\"><div class=\"ll-text-padded ll-align--center \"><p style=\"color:#ffffff\"> Early and accurate detection of prostate cancer is proven to widen the available treatment options to patients, improving outcomes whilst reducing potential adverse side-effects. <\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet, TRUS biopsy has a high risk of infection, including patients given prophylaxis medication. In a recent study, 7 of 564 patients who received TRUS were admitted to the hospital for infection within the first 7 days, compared to 1 of 562 patients for LATP. At 4 months, 13 patients who received TRUS had required hospital admission, compared to 6 patients who had received LATP<sup>1<\/sup>. The alternative transperineal or template (TP) biopsy has, in the past, typically only been available to men at greater risk of infection from certain medical conditions, and had to be done under general anaesthetic because of the need for multiple biopsy punctures<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PrecisionPoint\u2122 Transperineal Access System is now revolutionising the methodology for obtaining prostate biopsies. The practitioner is not restricted to biopsy locations dictated by a grid configuration, since the technique is freehand.
